The USPS mobile app is a simple app that takes most of the functionality from the USPS's mobile site and makes it more efficient for mobile users to use. Though it might not be the most effective version of the app for all of the various functions included in the program, it's still the best way to check on all of your various mail needs. Whether this means that it's worth a download, though, is definitely dependent on how the individual user interacts with the postal system.

Features and Benefits

The USPS Mobile app will, for the most part, let you do anything that you could do on the USPS website. This means not only scheduling pickups and deliveries, but also checking zip codes, estimating postage, and even checking on your Informed Mail deliveries. You can also use the app to track certain types of mail and to find USPS locations in your area, which can be very helpful if you are looking to drop a letter in a mail box when you are in an unfamiliar area. All of the features that you'd expect from a mail app are here, and most of them are fairly easy to use.

The biggest benefit of this app is that it puts quite a bit of power at the fingertips of the average user. There's no more need to go into a post office to ask simple questions, nor are you going to have to sit down in front of your computer to do some of the basic tasks that once required using the main website. You'll also be able to take care of many tasks on the go, which can save you a fair bit of time. For many, though, the fact that this app is far more responsive than the mobile version of the USPS website is going to be more than enough of a reason to download the app.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Much more responsive than the mobile site
  • Incorporates most of the features of the online USPS portal
  • Very easy to find the various features
  • Works with multiple types of mail service, letting you track packages on the go

Cons

  • No ability to remember/save login information
  • Informed delivery isn't as easy to use as it was with the standalone app

Conclusion

There's very little that's fun about the USPS app, but it is a must-have for anyone who uses the online mail functionality on a regular basis. It has virtually everything that you'll need to send, receive, and track packages, with all of the informational functions that will help you to be able to avoid going to a post office to ask questions. Though the app might not be as great for Informed Delivery as the older app, it's nonetheless the best app for your mail needs right now.
